From a young age I have always been passionate about the hairdressing industry, my first memory was at primary school were I never had amazing hairstyles like my friends. I thought lets try it myself, so for my 7th birthday I asked my parents for a step by step hair styling book, which is where it all started. From the age of seven I was braiding my own hair and always playing hairdressers with friends and family. Academically I struggled as I have dyslexia, but I was not going to let this hold me back from achieving my goals, which is why at the age of 16 I went to college to study performing arts where I focused on theatrical hair and make-up. I loved working behind the scenes creating magic for the stage.
After college I continued to pursue my passion and furthered my eduction at University where I studied hair and makeup for fashion, film and photography. However this still wasn’t enough! I wanted to be styling hair everyday, so I could live for my passion in the hair industry. This meant leaving my home town, in Devon, and making the move to Essex. I joined the team at Pierre and James hair salon and have never looked back. I am living my dream of creating new styles and looks everyday, I started as a junior stylist making my way up to management.
My passion and career then advanced to qualifying as a teacher and assessor within the hairdressing industry, I wanted to inspire others to enjoy the creativity with hair just as much as I am.
I have now created my own company, “HAIR BOOT CAMP”, as when styling hair you always find yourself working “left right left right” which is how I developed my brand.
My courses are designed to encourage individuals to feel confident and comfortable when creating any hairstyle which will lead onto them learning new skills, whether it is for continuous professional development, for self benefit or your children, friends and family.
